This is Will Keith. This Saturday, March 9th at 7pm at UCBEast, he will be inducted into the 404ing It Hall of Fame. You probably don’t know who Will Keith is. If you google him, your first instinct might be to make fun of the way he looks or the way he talks or the content he makes on youtube. I won’t be doing that this Saturday. Instead, I’m going to celebrate Will Keith.
404ing It: Breaking (Down) the Internet’s Mission Statement is simple: change the Internet for the better. By celebrating the good things, the fun things, the joy and the creativity, I hope to change the way people think about the Internet and what they produce on it. I use my 30 minutes every month in front of 50-60 people to make people laugh and have a good time. But also, either overtly or subconsciously, I want my audience to feel good about the world they live in. I want them to truly believe that despite all the pain and hatred that exists online, there’s also amazing, awesome ideas and people.
At the start of every show, I say a variation of the following: “We’re here to celebrate the internet. We’ll look at the good stuff. No youtube comments. No Fails. No videos of people hurting themselves. No one is going to insult your mother.” There’s alot of horrible on the Internet, I’m just choosing to focus on the positive.
There are better people out there to fight the awful parts of the net, I think I’m best suited to champion the wonderful. Will Keith is wonderful, and I’m going talk about him.
(Also, we’ll see videos of kids dancing, a “secret” segment, and my guest Ruby Karp will talk to me about what she loves on the Internet!)

Please come to this show.
